Greetings!

Project tasks have been progressing at a great pace early in the process of revitalizing our downtown! 4 out of 5 sawcutting project tasks are complete, and the contractors are in the beginning stages of the Railroad Bore and Storm Water Installation!

We are committed to doing our best throughout this project to maintain local traffic access to the downtown business. There will be times that require a shut down of specific areas, but we are working diligently to minimize any local traffic shutdown.

Thank you for your patience during this project. Our hope is that this project will lead to a more prosperous Bucyrus!

Sincerely,

Dan Ross, Mayor
Sid Seevers, Service-Safety Director

The Sawcutting Project Tasks are nearing completion. The final phase will take place from the bridge on N. Sandusky Avenue, and continue to the entrance of Bucyrus Community Hospital. The contractor, Anderzack-Pitzen, estimates that this final phase of sawcutting will be completed by August 14th.

The Railroad Bore Project Task is well under way, and so far running on schedule. This portion of the project requires a full detour, as the holes being dug are too large to safely allow local traffic access. View a slideshow of photos from the early stages of the Railroad Bore.

The Storm Water Installation task begins Monday, August 17th, at Perry Street. The installation will move south to Washington Square, and will continue through Washington Square, with an anticipated completion date of August 27th. We, along with the contractor, will do everything we can to maintain local traffic access to downtown businesses in these areas. Safety is of the utmost importance, and is the primary reason for any and all detours around certain sections of the downtown. When a full detour is required, we will have electronic signage at each end of the detour promoting downtown merchants open for business, and the use of alternative entrances to these businesses.

Storm Water Installation will also take place from the bridge and running north to the entrance of Bucyrus Community Hospital. This project task is scheduled to start Monday, August 24th. Local traffic access will be maintained throughout this project task.

Project Tasks
Listed below is a schedule of project tasks for the downtown revitalization project. Throughout the phases of these tasks, every attempt will be made to maintain local access to the downtown businesses.

The Railroad Bore is underway, and will continue through August 27th, weather permitting. The Storm Water Installation will begin Monday, August 17th, at Perry Street and continue south to Washington Square, eventually pushing through Washington Square. This project task will continue through August 31st, weather permitting. This portion of the project will require a full detour around the project area for the safety of the workers and the public. Electronic message boards are in place on both the north and south sides of the task area promoting our local downtown businesses as open! Our goal, with this and other similar tasks, is to maintain local access as much as possible.

Ley's Jewelry will be open regular hours during construction.  Please feel free to call to check on anything prior to driving up.  Subway has been gracious enough to offer limited short-term parking for Ley's Jewelry customers.  Please stay to the back corner so as to not interfere with their customers, or better yet, take some subs home with you for supper!
